Heat metering in residential buildings

Heat metering sets out the criteria for allocation of costs of heating, cooling and domestic hot water in buildings provided with centralized system.

An update replacing the version of 2015 was published in September 2018. The drafting of the new standard required careful and thorough assessments by experts and in particular by the Italian Thermotechnical Committee, since the context is characterised by a number of highly complicated legislative provisions and regulations: from the Civil Code to the decrees governing the transposition of the EU directive on energy efficiency, from the condominium regulations to the regulation principles.

The new technical standard UNI 10200 was developed with the objective of allowing the allocation of costs in the cases for which the legislation provides, yes, because the obligations regarding the installation of metering systems and the criteria for allocation of costs are set by the Italian Leg. Decr. No.102/2014, amended and supplemented by the Italian Leg. Decr. No.141/2016 and by the Italian Leg. Decr. No.244/2016.

CHP Engineering has been dealing with heat metering on the ground since 2015, offering services of:

  • Inspection for the verification of engineering components
  • Verification of the power required to the heating of the building
  • Verification of the functioning of the thermal power station components by analytical calculation
  • Verification of the functioning of the heating system in building units by analytical calculation
  • Technical report with analysis and proposal for improvements
